MA Circular by Design
Reimagining the Future of Fashion
The transition from a linear to a circular economy demands that we rethink and redesign everything – from materials, to products, to services, to systems. Therefore, NCAD believes that designers have a pivotal role to play.
Textiles and Fashion is one of the most pollutive and wasteful industries, responsible for 10% of global carbon emissions and following a ‘take-make-waste’ model. In Ireland, textile waste per person is currently 35% higher than the EU average.
A different future is possible.
A circular textiles industry designs out waste and pollution, keeps products and materials in use for longer, and supports the regeneration of natural systems. But creating that future requires new ways of thinking, making, communicating and collaborating.
The Circular by Design MA is a two-year, part-time postgraduate programme for designers, makers, innovators, and industry professionals who want to lead the transition toward a more sustainable and circular fashion and textiles sector.
Combining critical theory with hands-on practice, the programme equips students with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to apply circular design principles directly to their own work and to address complex ecological and social challenges across the value chain.
