Adaptive Ecosystems: Threads of Care

This project explores the relationship between regenerative textile systems and adaptive, inclusive fashion through a speculative material and systems installation. While regenerative fashion focuses on ecological restoration through natural fibres, bio-based materials and circular systems, adaptive fashion centres body diversity, sensory experience and accessibility. Despite shared harms with care and sustainability, these systems often operate separately within a mainstream, contemporary fashion system.

Using a material sample, speculative diagram and visual research this work imagines a future fashion ecology whereby environmental and embodied forms of care are interconnected. Drawing from regenerative textile discourse, adaptive fashion research and material culture theories, the project asks how fashion systems might become more responsive to all bodies while also restoring relationships between land, materials and production.

Instead of offering a solid solution, this display is an experiment exploring fashion through historical, land-based ways of making for more inclusive fashion futures for people and planet.
