The NCAD Field is an outdoor site next to the college. Students engage, learn and unlearn within this novel ecology located in the heart of the city. The Field blurs the line between nature and urban, forever in a state of transience.

In alongside the field, past and present students share their experiences and reflections as they speak to the space amidst its unique soundscape.

Through video and sound recordings, this short film shows the quiet happenings that occur within the Field by both human and more-than-human. For the human, special attention is brought to the hands and feet; the physical parts which make connection to the environment tangible.

alongside the field conveys the importance of connection, consideration and care for the life held and experienced in the spaces and places we inhabit. Serving to communicate the significance that the Field holds in students’ practices and lives, it’s a glimpse at the ephemeral moments that often go unseen and undocumented.
