KINETIX – Overuse Injury Prevention Wearable
Between 60% and 80% of running-related injuries are caused by overuse. These injuries are typically linked to training errors, such as increasing distance, speed, or frequency too quickly without allowing the body adequate time to adapt and recover.
My project, KINETIX, aims to address this issue through an open human-centred design approach. KINETIX is a wearable leg sleeve designed to help runners avoid overuse injuries. Using built-in sensors, the wearable measures the force and shock absorbed by the runner’s legs during exercise. This data is then sent to the KINETIX mobile or smartwatch app, allowing users to monitor performance during a run and analyse data afterwards. The app also provides personalised training plans to help runners remain injury-free.
As a designer, I value putting the user first. With the user’s needs at the centre of the process, I have designed this project with affordability and accessibility as core priorities.
