GRASSROOTS
GRASSROOTS responds to textile waste within the football industry, addressing the environmental impact of discarded sportswear and equipment. The project repurposes second-hand football materials into two lamps, transforming waste into functional objects. The products bring sustainability and emotional connection together through nostalgia and memory, creating two meaningful lamps that reflect the significance football holds for people.
Aimed at football fans, the designs reflect two modes of engagement: spectator and player. These two categories of fans determine which lamp holds personal relevance for them.
With the market for football memorabilia continuing to grow, excessive mass production has increased alongside it. GRASSROOTS aims to repurpose these items and reinvent them as new and unique products.
