Saligia
My practice explores the translation of ideas into jewellery, turning meaning into something visible. The collection, Saligia, is inspired by the seven deadly sins: pride, lust, envy, gluttony, greed, wrath, and sloth. I view these not as flaws, but as natural aspects of being human.
Although these emotions are internal, they often manifest physically. I wanted to bring that presence to the surface.
Working primarily in silver and stone, each piece begins as a handmade wax model, which is then cast in metal and oxidised to create depth and shadow. The work is finalised through the setting of stones into the form, creating medium-scale, wearable pieces.
Each piece features a small character representing a sin, quietly interacting with the wearer.
A sin is not a defining trait; it is simply a passing feeling. Acknowledging these emotions can deepen self-understanding. The work positions them not as something to conceal, but as something to observe and understand.
