The German word “haut” is where we derive the English word for “hide” or animal skin. It is placed in quotations to indicate that my collection is in fact not composed of animal skins. "HAUT" is a unisex collection of constructed textiles designed for fashion. It is intended to act as a surreal, cruelty-free adaption of typical animal skins and furs seen in the contemporary fashion industry.

Sustainability is at the centre of this collection, using exclusively natural materials and plant dyes, or being led by the natural colours of fibres. By taking inspiration from the form, colours and evolutionary benefits of these skins, I hope to create a new category of pelt that prioritises natural fibres that is reminiscent, but incomparable to genuine and faux skins alike.
