Maria Beskova

My graduation project is called Smoke Break, inspired by an important aspect of my college life. However, neither college nor smoking are necessarily the central focus of the work.

My goal in art is to create pieces inspired by my own feelings, not so much to explain them to the world as to express them visually. I hope that, through engaging with the work, viewers will find meanings that relate to their own experiences or to concepts important to them, even if this connection emerges through a single detail that stands out within the wider body of work.

I do not intend for the audience to decipher what I was trying to say, but rather to find themselves — or someone or something close to them — within the work.
