Reimaginings
My interest lies in merging realism with abstraction to reconfigure ordinary, everyday moments and form a new perspective, while maintaining a recognisable sense of the object, person, time, or place. I aim to reimagine the familiar and commonplace, magnifying the mundane so that the familiar becomes strange, yet still rooted in reality.
My process begins with quick, small, on-the-spot pencil sketches and/or photography, which I then restructure and rearrange to provide the basis for composing a larger work. Through experimentation across various mediums — including pencil, pen, ink, charcoal, iPad features, paint, and collage — the initial sketch is adapted to draw out a narrative that takes on a different form and meaning.
