Loneliness
Human connection is formed through the relationships and interactions between people that provide emotional support, communication, and a sense of belonging within society. What happens when this begins to change?
For centuries, people have shared stories, music, and time together to understand one another and feel less alone. Yet today, loneliness is an increasing issue, with recent figures in Ireland showing a rise. Modern advertising often promises quick emotional fixes for deeply human experiences.
My project responds to this by presenting a conceptual claim to cure loneliness. Through this, I show how easily we are drawn to immediate solutions, while suggesting that real connection cannot be replaced by consumption. The project also reflects on our desire for answers and fulfilment, and how impatience can lead us towards superficial substitutes. Genuine connection and meaningful experiences are those that require time and patience, and are therefore worth waiting for.
