Breast Augmentation Surgery: Objects of Desire. Objects by Design?
What is the design history of breast augmentation surgery? What is its material culture? Are breasts with implants designed objects? Is breast augmentation surgery a form of dress? Is it a type of fashion?
These are but a few questions I hope to answer. My project is a reinterpretation and reclamation of the objectification of breasts. This will be achieved by positioning breast augmentation surgery as the making of cultural objects.
As a writer and researcher, my work focuses on the complex relationship between women's gendered bodies and the dress and fashion adorning them.
