Microplastics in the Microworlds
The creative force driving this body of work is a passion for nature, our impact on it, and the desire to understand how we can live harmoniously alongside it. This immersive artwork is an extension of research pursued by scientific minds, mixed with a creative approach that allows the viewer to experience the thinking and research approach of an environmental scientist.
Originating from the study of water pollution on Blackrock Beach in Dundalk, the work identifies materials that are better suited to a future of coexistence with nature. The work facilitates the exploration and examination of a simple experiment that opens our eyes to a world, normally invisible to the human eye, without the help of a microscope. The goal is to explore this world collected on Blackrock beach and to identify the presence of microplastics found.
