Expiation
How many hidden expiations go unnoticed?
Expiation displays toil through sound and smell. A suspended washing line holds metal sheets of imprinted text that cannot be read. The audio that fills the space consists of washing, abuse, and confessions directed towards the frottoir.
My work speaks to the use of labour as an act of atonement to cleanse the stains of sin.
My practice revolves around community and the different relationships that shape it. I incorporate domestic, familial, and political correlations throughout my work.
I would like to direct my future research and art practice towards exploring the positive effects a collective can have on a person’s health and wellbeing.
