A Room Of One’s Own

A Room of One’s Own explores the lesbian communities that blossom through access to private space.

Inspired by the lesbian salon culture that permeated Paris' Left Bank in the 1920s, this collection celebrates the power and romanticism of sapphic dress culture. Honouring the homes and spaces that gave rise to this powerful community, the collection draws on elements of interior design and lesbian signalling.

Honouring both a Grecian sensuality and a tradition of cross-dressing, the work reflects a history of coded expression. Striking contrasts between black suiting and blooming carnations capture the duality of sapphic identity and the strength that emerges through a sense of belonging.
