In Living Memory

In Living Memory explores the bedside table as a site of intimate self-portraiture, memory, and transition. Rooted in a process-driven practice of drawing, sampling, fabric dyeing, and embroidery, the work reflects on my experience within the shifting space between childhood and adulthood, shaped by moving away from home and confronting the belongings left behind. Central to the work are curtains taken from the shared bedroom my sister and I grew up in, transformed from a domestic object into a material witness to memory and change.

I am interested in what remains after a space is emptied: watermarks, wear, and impressions as evidence of lived experience. Ordinary objects become extensions of identity and markers of particular moments in time, carrying emotional weight through memory and attachment. Through the work, I attempt to preserve fleeting and ephemeral moments, transforming them into something sacred — a quiet memorial to presence, routine, and the passage of time.
