W Moim Domu

Through a multimedia practice, I construct immersive environments that explore the fragile tension between familiarity and disconnection within the notion of home, and the quiet process of accepting its shifting meaning.

W Moim Domu is a series of paintings that examines the divide between what we subconsciously reveal and what we deliberately conceal. Rooted in the poem Żuk by Jan Brzechwa — a story of a ladybird and a beetle, read to me by my mother throughout my childhood — the work carries the lingering rhythm and imagery of memory. The poem becomes embedded within the painted surface itself, acting as both comfort and obstruction, filtering the way I remember and perceive home.

Through heightened colour saturation and imagery drawn from the intimacy of everyday family life, past and present relationships unfold within a space charged with frustration, tenderness, and the weight of hierarchy. The work navigates the emotional residue carried within domestic environments, where affection and conflict exist simultaneously.

“Slow down. No one will take this from your growth.” This recurring refrain lingers throughout the work, suspended within a grey space between reassurance and expectation, comfort and pressure, becoming both a gesture of care and a quiet form of control.
