Forget Me Notts

As an artist educator, my work can be described as a heritage-led textiles practice that bridges traditional craft with contemporary expression. As a fifth-generation textile practitioner, I draw from an ancestry of Swiss embroiderers, Nottingham lace makers, and Second World War uniform menders. Utilising inherited primary source artefacts, I allow the physical act of making to intertwine with storytelling and memory.

Conceptually, I am driven by the ideas of archive, conservation, and the value of labour in textile traditions that are increasingly at risk of disappearing. Research into the diminishing Nottingham Lace Industry informs my approach, alongside my interest in the overlooked accoutrements, skills, and stories embedded in textile production.

My creative practice focuses on rediscovering stories and cultural significance within textiles. Ultimately, the most important aspect of my practice is honouring and preserving legacy, ensuring that the knowledge, skill, and lives of my ancestors are recognised and sustained.
