Making [My]celial Memories
Making [My]celial Memories symbolises the unseen relationship between my father and myself. Although we did not have a close tangible relationship for many years, the connection still existed, much like mushrooms connected through interconnected mycelial root systems.
My inspiration is from mushroom forms, specifically ones indigenous to Ireland that I discovered through an interest in mushroom foraging. This interest emerged as I reconnected with my dad after years without contact. It is something we do together, my Dad and I.
This project is not only cathartic, it is one about well-being, about a journey of growth and renewal. While rebuilding is challenging, with uncertainties, it has taught me to be hopeful, self-reliant and adaptive as the growth and rebuilding matures.
