The Weight
Holly Jensen is a Dublin-based multidisciplinary artist and educator working in Sculpture and Expanded Practice. Her practice centres on the human body, exploring experiences of endometriosis and the dismissal of women’s voices within medical and social contexts.
Working with bedsheets and embroidery, Jensen uses the bed as a recurring site: a space of confinement and endurance. Through text, her work brings together personal experience and collective testimony, incorporating phrases gathered through shared experiences, conversations, and her personal journal. These fragmented voices reflect repetition, disbelief, and the ongoing search for validation.
Her material approach draws on the language of care and domesticity while referencing medical intervention through stitching, mending, and repair. Labour and repetition become central, with embroidered marks acting as both record and gesture.
Positioned between personal and collective experience, the work creates a space where viewers encounter the body as a site of endurance, memory, and resistance.
