Shūchū
Shūchū(Japanese for ‘focus’) is a desk lamp that helps users visualise their concentration levels while studying. Using a camera inside of the main body, the users’ eye micro movements are tracked, and a visual cue is provided, indicating that a break is to be taken when concentration levels are low.
Many factors contribute to why a student may experience poor-quality study. This project is designed to indicate to students when their study time is being wasted due to poor concentration levels. Made with wood, washi paper and wire, Shūchū is designed to be an elegant and functional furniture piece.
Shūchū offers students a chance to go easy on themselves and ensure that they take care of themselves in periods of high stress and supporting students to practice self-care.
