Threads of Nostalgia

The nostalgia of childhood. Memories are a place of safety in an ever-changing world; now in my early twenties, I find myself longing for the safety and security of my younger years. I was fortunate to have a childhood shaped by a wonderful mother and father who created a warm and safe environment for my sister and I to grow. However, nostalgia can never truly be recaptured, as much as we may desire. I am not the same person who lived those moments and now view the past differently. Therefore, this project seeeks to pay homage to a past unblemished by current worries; reminiscing on a wonderful upbringing. My processes are determined by the textiles which my childhood was wrapped in; soft billowing textures which were engulfing to a once miniature self; and painted by the light joyful colours which captured these moments.
