Elizabeth Shaw
Entropic.Bath.Time.
Entropic.Bath.Time. exemplifies themes and actions which joyfully and critically engage in present-day economies of attention and spectacle. The constructed tableau includes a bathtub, which acts as site of generative idea. It is placed within a circuitry which contains oil paintings on linen and gessoed board, acting as nodes in the DMN (default mode network in the brain). Objects and luminescent tape function as both drawing and conductor, connecting pieces in this entropic realm!
This installation characterises Elizabeth Shaw's artistic vision, and is situated at the fragile intersection of neurodivergence and interior individuated consciousness. The artist realises painting as play and performative action while examining the conditions that lubricate creativity.
The role of artist as “maker/decision maker” within the arena of live performance is what excites. This activation of work in a live context is being explored in the programme of events portraying the vulnerability of creative practice.
