Fragmented Recollections

My practice explores themes of memory recall and breakdown through analogue and digital technologies. Using outmoded devices such as handheld camcorders and analogue cameras, I capture places of comfort through a hazy lens portraying the idea that as we rehearse and relive memories in our minds, with each time of remembrance we alter what we recall.

Using polaroid emulsion lifts, I create a physically fragmented representation of how our minds alter memories over time, leaving sharp realities behind in order to focus on what gives the most comfort, accompanied by handwritten personal reflections. With video projection and subtitling of personal writing excerpts, I create a narrative depicting how often the mind switches between the reality presently experienced and past moments one sifts through mentally as they return to their place of memory origin.
