An Tobar
Éanna Ó Briain is a multi-disciplinary artist based between Kildare and Dublin. Ó Briain looks to Gaelic history, mythology, and craft to find and weave speculative fabulations towards a multi species future. Inspired by the contemporary writings of Donna Haraway and Natasha Myers, the artist's work contextualises these ideas in Ireland in the 21st century.
This recent work emerges from researching multi-species relations in the context of Irish mythology, with emphasis on handcraft and sustainable making practices. This body of work is a series of carvings made from seven different native tree species, known under Brehon law as the 'Airig Fedo' or the 'Nobles of the Wood'.
