A Manifesto for Post-Colonial Spatial Practice

Can buildings of empire become post-colonial space, or must we engage in iconoclasm to regain autonomy?

This manifesto provides a doctrine for engaging in practices that refuse cultural norms and attempts to redress collective memory of colonial pasts.

Through collating quotes, images, and personal musings on the subject of post-colonialism, a set of standards are revealed that may be implemented when decolonising space.

Dylan Yearsley is a curator, writer, and researcher primarily based in Dublin. They are interested in film, visual art, and curatorial practice with their research and cultural output focused on queer and post-colonial narratives in the contemporary world. He aims to continue his work through writing and programming, as an independent cultural producer and postgraduate student.
