Anchor: Workplace Support for Type 1 Diabetes

This project began with a simple observation: managing diabetes does not stop at the workplace door.

Through conversations with people living with Type 1 Diabetes, including my wife, it became clear that starting a new job can be one of the most uncertain periods of working life. Support is often informal, expectations are unclear, and individuals must quickly decide what to disclose, when to step away, and how to manage their condition without disrupting work.

Anchor explores how onboarding and the early experience of joining a workplace can become moments of support rather than uncertainty. It proposes a system that makes needs visible early, protects time-sensitive health tasks, and reduces the pressure to self-advocate, shifting diabetes support from a personal burden to a shared workplace responsibility.
