Alice Isn’t Here

Alice Isn't Here is a short film about a girl who wakes up to a future she does not recognise, trying to balance her reality and her past. Using visuals like makeup, costuming and locations it expresses the unnerving feeling the main character is going through.

‘Alice’ is viewed in both Ireland and the Soviet Union as a character who gets in trouble and then later gets herself out of it, using her own wit. As the audience, we know it will be ok when she is involved with something no matter the adaptation. In this short film, Alice is not there to save the day, so the question is; will it be ok?

Highly inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky, Stanislav Rostosky, Pavel Arsenov, and many more. ‘Alice’ became the representation of a bridge between the West and the Soviet Union for Clara Scholz, being raised watching both genres.
