Liberty

Liberty showcases the significant in the small. This animated short film depicts real life Dubliners; inspired by the people I have connected with during my time living in the Liberties. Their stories are reimagined into fiction. The insights into their lives I've gained through casual conversations with them have encouraged me to reflect on my perception of loss.

The film follows these characters connected by grief, living side by side yet isolated. The mundane monotony of a workday is accompanied by a quiet tragedy, invisible to the casual passerby yet all-consuming in their internal lives. With no dialogue included in the piece, the story would be told exclusively through visual storytelling.

This work focuses on the complicated emotions that arise when you grieve someone, and the duty that is often felt, to never let go of them.
