(Down to a) Monochromatic Fault
(Down to a) Monochromatic Fault reflects on a speculative relationship between Dunsink Landfill, Finglas and Poolbeg Incinerator, aiming to subvert 19th Century renditions of the Irish pastoral as industrial ruins, creating a dialogue around value and imperialist myths of progress.
I explore this through the vernacular of low-brow digital aesthetics, in response to the hyper-modernised city, creating a spatial essay through sculpture and moving image, ruminating on what lingers under the guise of ‘development’ in post-colonial systems and lived class experience.
I aim to reconfigure image-making processes within the context of Ireland’s historical relationship to photography, coinciding with new technologies and digital systems which reshape Irish landscape and collective memory.
