Bruno Fitzgerald is a BA Visual Culture student who’s work explores the relation between the practice of filmmaking and the depiction of reality onscreen. My focusing on the more experimental and individual styles of cinema has been of great motivation to delve into the deeper meaning of films and how they present themselves as interpretations of the real world. I believe the classification of a film as “arthouse" should never repel someone from showing an interest in its content, as they can often provide a great insight into oneself. This insight is not only invaluable to ones cinematic knowledge but also to a wider means of interpreting art as a whole. I also believe that experimental cinema does not have to be of huge psychoanalytic value for it to be an impactful viewing experience, as it can engrain itself into our subconscious purely by account of its own individuality.
