I work in the Fine Art and Printmaking field. In printmaking, I use thick sheets of clear PVC to engrave on with a fine point. Similarly with the copper plates but this also involves painting with resist resin and etching the plate in a mild acid bath, then inking it up. Finally, pulling a good impression on the proofing press- the fun part.
In painting, I use acrylic paint and inks on canvas and board. I also employ collage in some works, using recycled materials, fabric and found objects, beads, string and organic forms. These I layer and paint and glaze over with colour and bond to the surface.
My work engages with the contemporary feelings of dialogue, euphoria and conflict, in a society changing under the penetration of social media and technology. I work this by linking colours and densities to my emotions and moods.
I committed to a full time career in art in 2021. I was offered a place to study for a University Certificate in Visual arts Practice from 2024 - 2026. Studying at NCAD opened up new processes and seeing in a more nuanced way.
