This body of work explores the Irish countryside through a deeply personal lens, capturing the landscape in vivid colour, bold movement, and richly textured surfaces. Inspired by rural surroundings, the paintings reflect the quiet beauty found within familiar fields, paths, and open spaces.

Central to the work is an interest in the subtle traces left behind by both people and animals worn tracks through grass, shifting pathways, and the quiet evidence of movement across the land. These lingering marks become symbols of memory, presence, and connection, revealing stories embedded within the landscape itself.

Texture plays a vital role in the process. By incorporating materials such as builder’s filler, thickening agents, and cement, layered surfaces are built up to mirror the rawness and depth of the countryside. This tactile approach allows the work to hold a physical relationship to the land, inviting viewers not only to observe the landscape, but to feel its weight, texture, and atmosphere.

Through 'Tracks That Linger', viewers are invited to slow down and reflect on the quiet rhythms of rural life the traces left behind, the paths followed, and the enduring connection between memory, movement, and place.
