Invite to My Picnic

Anna Scott is an inter-disciplinary artist working with soft sculpture and video with a foundation in print practices. Her work explores the influence of childhood toys through the act of play, provoking memory and a sense of nostalgia. Using bright colours and interactive work she creates an environment which is made with the inner child in mind, making work which creates a sense of wonder and an idealistic atmosphere.

Anna’s interest in this subject stems from a continued collection of toys in her adulthood, specifically ‘Sylvanian Families'. Through her work she includes these toys in the making process and creates a world where people and toys coexist together. She also examines the care we treat our childhood toys with and encourages the viewer to turn this care inwards.

Through a variety of mediums this body of work allows others to embrace their own feelings towards the toys present in their childhood creating a tender feeling of nostalgia.
