From Petals
This collection seeks to explore the complexity of the feminine in contemporary culture. It places particular attention on the tension between a woman’s perceived fragility and the strength and determination she must embody in her lived experience. The work challenges societal beliefs of femininity, historically framed as vulnerable and sensitive, whilst demanding and requiring bravery, endurance and fearlessness.
With the instinct to shield and protect herself often comes an unavoidable sense of subjection and exposure. She is expected to embody grace and elegance while navigating environments that require fortitude, vigilance, and strength.
This AW26 womenswear print collection explores screen and digital printing on soft draping fabrics. Intricate botanical motifs represent the cultural associations with femininity, while large-scale, expressive mark making act as a counterpoint. The juxtaposition of these aesthetics are intensified through the use of textured grounds, layering delicate prints against substantial surfaces, to suggest both delicacy and depth.
