The Nameless
'The Nameless' brings together sculpture and video to capture the emotions of past psychiatric patient stories. The dark side of psychiatric care is the central theme of my work while both deeply unsettling and informative. Drawing on archival material and visual traditions of medical documentation, the work examines how individuals were observed and often reduced to nameless subjects within the institutional system.
By recreating and reframing the image of the “captured” patient, this work investigates the power dynamics inherent in acts of diagnosing. This project aims to engage audiences in a critical reflection on medical ethics by comparing historical psychiatric practices with contemporary documentation methods. The sculptural elements suggest presence while the video introduces a narrative layer that blurs the boundary between documentation and interpretation.
