CORPUS: 'The Body Is The Only Site', BA Visual Culture Live Performance by graduates Elizabeth Leonard, Sadbh Maher, and Kate McGowan. Location: Marquee, Grey Square. Friday, 5th June, 2026, 4 - 8 PM (DJ set 7 – 8 PM & Thursday 11th June, 4 – 8 PM.

The Body Is The Only Site is an invitation to dance with us, an invitation to consider your phenomenal existence as the centre point around which all things unfold. We invite you to understand your body as the only site of the multitude of knowledges that you meet and facilitate.
We understand our embodied presence as the vessel for all knowledge. We believe that the knowledge that you have, that perhaps does not have a home in The Academy, is deserving of celebration, and use in your/my/our becoming. This project understands that academic institutions delimit ‘Knowledge’.
.
TIMES:
On Friday, 5th June, 2026, 4 – 8 PM (DJ 7 – 8 PM)
On Thursday, 11th June, 4 – 8 PM.
Please join us for a dance in the Marquee, Grey Square, or take time to consider that you, in your consciousness, are the vessel for all knowledge; the only site.

The Body Is The Only Site
We feel that within The Academy, making spectacle of our minds is encouraged: speed, wit, and critical reasoning of the mind are all spectacles of the classroom, which are encouraged. We feel that profiting from the spectacle of the mind (academic, intellectual labour) has quite a revered position socially, while physical labour, particularly that of physical spectacle, which we feel is fundamentally no different to intellectual labour, is not seen as a valid means by which to participate in capitalism.
.
We understand that thinking is as much a physical process as any other physical manifestation of life. While we understand that intellectual labour is a valuable expression of Life, we do not believe in its supremacy over [insert labour]. We find the reverence paid to thought (within The Academy, within the curator/artist/maker hierarchy, and within all other manifestations of the form/matter hierarchy) to be unfounded.
.
The hope is that by being tasked with dancing, within the academy, we all might reconsider our consciousness as a physical single entity, without hierarchy.
